Walmart

Walmart is a people-led, tech-powered omnichannel retailer dedicated to helping people save money and live better. Walmart operates approximately 10,500 stores and clubs in 19 countries and employs over 2.1 million associates globally.

Walmart’s updated Forests Policy, which sets out specific goals and approaches for suppliers to source deforestation and conversion-free (DCF) commodities, was guided by the Accountability Framework. Walmart adopted the Framework’s definitions of deforestation and conversion and followed the Framework’s recommendation to establish a DCF cutoff date of no later than 2020, referencing the Framework’s list of common cutoff dates to help guide consistent implementation with suppliers. Walmart also encourages its suppliers to consult the Framework for guidance on how they can also develop and implement credible DCF policies of their own, thereby helping expand DCF practices throughout priority value chains.
