Accountability Framework Development Process and Timeline

The Accountability Framework is being developed throughout 2018 via an iterative process with multiple opportunities for companies, NGOs, governments, and other stakeholders to contribute. Technical content development for most sections of the Framework is being led by working groups on Land and on Monitoring & Verification. The members of these working groups represent diverse perspectives from global and national NGOs, service providers, and implementation partners involved in supporting responsible supply chains.

There will be several opportunities to contribute to the Framework development process throughout 2018, particularly around the following milestones:

  • May-June

A revised version of the Accountability Framework Core Document and draft operational guidance on selected topics (e.g., definitions, land rights, and others) will be shared for public input and “workshopping” at global and regional events.

  • September

Public working drafts of the Accountability Framework Core Document and operational guidance on selected topics will be available for use by companies and others.

  • September-October

Draft operational guidance on additional topics (e.g., long-term protection, remedy and compensation, intact landscapes, and smallholders) will be shared for public input and “workshopping” at global and regional events.

  • January 2019

Version 1.0 of the full Framework will be released publicly for consultation and review, with a final version published shortly thereafter.

These opportunities to contribute will be announced in the AFi Newsletter , or feel free to contact us to provide input at other times.
