Public consultation on the draft Accountability Framework at RSPO 15th Annual Roundtable Meeting
About the Event
Alongside the RSPO RT15 meetings in Bali, Indonesia, from 27-30 November 2017, the Accountability Framework initiative will be holding an afternoon information and consultation session to introduce the initiative and invite input from all interested parties. This event will introduce the initiative and present a first draft of the Accountability Framework’s core document, which outlines approaches to key implementation topics such as traceability, risk management, treatment of non-compliance, monitoring, verification, reporting and disclosure, remedy, land use planning and management, and company engagement with government and in landscape and jurisdictional initiatives. The session will be largely dedicated to discussion, inviting input from participants on the draft core document and how the Framework and initiative overall can best support efforts to address deforestation, human rights, labor rights, and other key issues of responsible supply chains..

The Accountability Framework initiative is a collaborative effort to establish common definitions, norms, and good practices for delivering on companies’ ethical supply chain commitments. It is being developed by a coalition of leading environmental and social NGOs together with private companies, government, and other stakeholders. The Framework will fill in vital implementation details that are missing from high‐level pledges, while helping to align a multitude of other efforts to implement commitments, foster transparency, and track progress.
