Innovation Podcast explores how the AFi guides responsible supply chain practices

27 February 2025

Guests discuss how the Accountability Framework can help companies act with confidence

Innovation Forum Publishing Director Ian Welsh welcomed members of the AFi to the outlet’s weekly podcast this week to dig into the challenges companies face in achieving responsible supply chains.

AFi Director Jeff Milder introduced audiences to the Accountability Framework, which is a management system for addressing deforestation and conversion, as well as human rights issues linked to commodity production and trade. Jeff described how the Framework provides an overall umbrella for guiding corporate action, which reflects the requirements of new regulations, international norms, market expectations, and stakeholder asks.

Louise Nakagawa, Project Coordinator at AFi Coalition member organisation Imaflora, joined the discussion to offer a Brazilian perspective. She explored ways that the cattle and soy sectors can translate commitments into positive change on the ground in Brazil. Louise also offered thoughts on applying the Accountability Framework amongst smaller companies and producers in the country.

Further, Jeff and Louise highlighted the opportunity for stakeholder to input into upcoming revisions to the Accountability Framework. The AFi is running a public consultation on updates to its guidance through 14 March 2025.
