The AFi Coalition at COP29
11 November 2024
See what the AFi Coalition will be doing at the climate summit, COP29, in Baku, Azerbaijan.
On 11 November, world leaders, policymakers, NGOs, financial institutions, private sector companies, and advocacy groups will descend on Baku, Azerbaijan for this year’s UN climate summit: COP29. Many members of the AFi Coalition will be on site, ready to advance key climate policy objectives and provide expertise on how to achieve the aims of the 2015 Paris Agreement.
The AFi’s collective goal of eliminating deforestation and ecosystem conversion from agricultural and forestry production and trade is central to meeting 1.5°C targets. This core objective must be advanced in concert with a myriad of other mitigation and adaptation solutions to achieve a rapid and just climate transition. Participating in the broader climate dialogue is therefore an essential component of our Coalition’s work to transform supply chains and protect both ecosystems and people. Key issues at this year’s summit will be establishing appropriate levels of climate finance, pushing for the submission of more national climate commitments, and showing progress on commitments to build more resilient food systems and transition away from fossil fuels.
