Outcome
13 December 2022
Conditions related to the protection of forests and other natural ecosystems, human rights, or other environmental and social values that result from actions or decisions.
- Outcomes can be measured through specific quantitative or qualitative metrics of condition within farms, forests, processing facilities, sourcing areas, or other assessment scopes. They may be assessed and reported at different scales, including at an aggregate level, for instance across an entire supply chain.
- See also the related term ‘performance’. These two terms can be used synonymously to refer to environmental and social conditions within a given assessment scope, but ‘outcome’ implies contribution or causality between actions and results whereas ‘performance’ does not necessarily imply contribution or causality.
