Social Accountability International joins AFi Coalition

25 February 2026

The AFi adds more human rights expertise to its Coalition with new member SAI.

The Accountability Framework initiative (AFi) is pleased to welcome Social Accountability International (SAI) to its Coalition.

The AFi Coalition is a diverse group of environmental and human rights organisations that work to protect forests, natural ecosystems, and human rights in agricultural and forestry commodity supply chains. The group’s shared commitment led to the creation of the Accountability Framework, a practical roadmap designed to help companies set goals, take action, and track progress in their supply chains. SAI's membership brings the AFi Coalition to a total of 23 organisations.

SAI’s efforts to advance human rights at work is particularly relevant to agricultural and forestry supply chains, where labour risks can be significant. SAI’s leadership on living wage and ethical recruitment strengthens responsible sourcing and sustainable production efforts. This supports companies in aligning their social performance with broader environmental and governance commitments.

The organisation’s focus closely aligns with the Coalition’s mission to advance respect for human rights, strengthen metrics and reporting, improve traceability, and embed human rights due diligence across commodity supply chains.

“Building alignment at the sector level is critical to improving conditions and livelihoods for workers,” said SAI Associate Director of Strategic Engagement and Content Alex Ducett. “We are glad to be joining the AFi Coalition, which brings together many impactful and influential members in the agricultural and forestry industries. We look forward to continuing our collaboration towards more ethical supply chains in these sectors.”

AFi Engagement Manager Teresa Garcia-Moore said: “We are very pleased to welcome SAI to the AFi Coalition. Its deep expertise in human rights, living wage, and ethical recruitment will significantly strengthen the AFi’s efforts to promote responsible supply chains. Revisions to the Accountability Framework will benefit from SAI’s expert contributions."
