Key services

The Sustainability, Energy and Climate Change (SECC) team at WSP offers the following key services related to the Accountability Framework:

  • Deforestation risk assessments: WSP assesses the risk of commodity-specific deforestation and ecosystem conversion to help businesses prioritise across commodities and locations, and to scope commitments and programmes. This work also supports corporate alignment with the Science Based Targets initiative's Forest, Land and Agriculture Guidance (SBTi FLAG) targets.
  • Goal and target setting: Through quantitative analysis, landscape assessment and stakeholder engagement, WSP supports companies to establish climate, no-deforestation, and supply chain sustainability targets that are appropriate and ambitious.
  • Enterprise no-deforestation commitments and policies: From initial scoping to final policy write-up and documentation, WSP helps implement company-wide no-deforestation commitments and governing policies. This includes engaging stakeholders across the value chain and organisation to ensure operational alignment.
  • Strategy and programme design: Utilising its deep subject matter expertise and in-house experience, WSP develops strategies, programmes and governance enablers that place no-deforestation and no-conversion objectives within reach. It creates action plans, processes, and tools for measurable impacts and stakeholder communications.
    • Sustainable supply chain: WSP professionals measure, manage, and address impact throughout the supply chain. It focuses on systems development, stakeholder trainings, supplier engagement, procurement policies, risk and resilience integration, performance measurement, due diligence, and satisfying the requirements of EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).
    • Human rights and community engagement: WSP designs and conducts human rights due diligence processes, conducts studies and assessments related to Indigenous Peoples' and local communities' rights as it relates to both site establishment and operation, conducts supplier screenings, and develops training materials for diverse sets of stakeholders.
  • Voluntary and compliance reporting: WSP aggregates, synthesises, and compiles data from various sources for both voluntary and compliance-related reporting including EUDR, CSRD, and CDP.
  • Integrating forests initiatives with climate and other sustainability work: WSP works to streamline sustainability efforts across all topic areas. For example, It supports companies to integrate FLAG and land use change emissions into greenhouse gas inventories, and to incorporate no-deforestation and no-conversion programs into climate action plans, adaptation plans, and enterprise risk and resilience plans. Using rigorous blended qualitative and quantitative approaches, WSP measures and mitigates enterprise or regional vulnerabilities.
